Against the Grain Pet Food Review

As you can see I had already opened the 100% Chicken NOTHING ELSE canned food for my pictures. My girls go nuts when they see these cans. Every night along with their dry dog food I give them 2 spoons full of Against the Grain canned food, usually just the 100% Chicken, it seems to be their favorite. They know it's dinner time when the can comes out of the fridge, usually around 5pm. I love feeding them a food that I know is safe and made with NOTHING ELSE just what it states on the can 100% Chicken. 
This food is a loaf in gravy, All of the NOTHING ELSE foods come like this and my girls love it. 
Even my two cats enjoy their Against the Grain canned food. It comes in smaller cans that I open and split into two dishes. I don't think they have a favorite since they eat anyone I put out.  My cats get dry food, that is out all day for them to enjoy, the can food is just a night thing when I feed the dogs so they don't feel left out.

My cats love SmartyKat Scratch pads. Katy our older cat uses it daily. Duncan the younger cat uses it from time to time but more thinks it's an area to sit. I am a big tea drinker, I make fresh tea everyday. Only green or white teas and sometimes fruit teas. I like tea hot & cold, usually cold but the last few days it's been freezing at my house so hot tea has been my favorite.

Altogether, the kit includes three recipes and enough spices to make approximately 12-15 servings of cooked food.
I make Indian Butter Chicken at least 3 times a month but I had never made it with the
PURE Indian Spice Starter Kit until now, I just have a ton of Indian spices in my cabinet, after making it withe the PURE starter kit I was amazed, even my boyfriend asked what I did different. The spices were so pronounced and pure, the dish turned out excellent. I will never go back to my old spices. Obviously PURE spices are better. 

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)
This recipe is paleo friendly, gluten-free and Whole30® compliant.

Serves 4 

  • 1 lb chicken, cut in to bite sized pieces
  • 3 TBSP Pure Indian Foods ghee
  • 1 large onion, roughly chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 2/3 cup plain yogurt (or substitute coconut cream)

From this kit:

  • 2 tsp Indian Five Spice
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp ginger

Cut chicken into pieces and rub coriander, garam masala, ginger, turmeric, and cayenne into meat. Set aside. Heat ghee on medium heat in a large pan. Add Indian Five Spice, and fry until it starts to pop. Cover the pan to prevent splattering. Add chopped tomatoes, onions, and garlic, and cook until slightly browned, about 5 minutes. Add chicken and stir for 2 minutes. Add yogurt, cover, and simmer for 50 minutes, or until oil separates. Stir occasionally. Season with salt and a sprinkle of garam masala before serving.

​Jacky loves her California Canine Bandana, she waits in the morning for me to put it on her. Usually soon after she wakes up she goes and stands near where I keep it hung up,,,, I take it off her before bed since I'm one of those Moms that worries all night that it will strangle her or she won't like it....
